Genel Sorular

How do I find a good accountant?

A good accountant is not simply someone who files your returns; they are a working partner who understands your line of business, warns you of legislative changes in advance, and is reachable when you need them. When choosing, ask about the professional’s licence, the sectors they work in and how they handle communication.

How are accounting fees determined?

Fees depend on the type of business, the monthly volume of documents and invoices, the number of employees, e-ledger and e-invoice obligations, and any additional services requested. The minimum fee tariff published each year by TÜRMOB is taken as the baseline.

Is it compulsory to engage an accountant?

For taxpayers keeping books on the balance sheet basis, having ledgers and tax returns handled by a licensed professional is a legal obligation. Under the simple-entry basis too, in practice almost the entire process runs through a licensed professional.

Why should I choose you?

We work in areas that require specialist knowledge, such as technoparks, cooperatives and SGK incentive management. We run your processes traceably on digital infrastructure and inform you of legislative changes in advance.

What does an accounting service cover?

Alongside bookkeeping and filing tax returns, it covers tax planning, financial statement analysis, payroll and SGK processes, company formation and liquidation, and the management of incentive applications.

Why should I use an accounting service?

Legislation changes frequently and procedural mistakes turn into administrative fines. A regular advisory relationship both reduces that risk and ensures you see the exemptions and incentives available to you in good time.

What is an accounting firm?

It is an office where licensed certified public accountants (SMMM) operate under the supervision of their chamber, providing accounting and advisory services to taxpayers.

Who is a certified public accountant?

A licensed professional who has completed the required education, traineeship and examinations, and is authorised to keep books, file tax returns, audit and advise. Mai Müşavirlik is run by a professional registered with the Istanbul Chamber of Certified Public Accountants.

How much does advisory cost?

Advisory fees vary with the scope and duration of the request. A one-off consultation is not priced the same as an ongoing advisory relationship; we prepare a tailored quote after listening to what you need.

Accounting and Tax Advisory Services

How long does transferring our books take?

The transfer time depends on how orderly the existing records are and which month of the period you are in. It usually follows these steps: transferring the records within an accounting period, reconciling opening balances and updating e-ledger registrations. At the first meeting we review your current position and draw up a timetable specific to you.

How do we send documents?

Most documents drop straight into the system via e-invoice and e-archive. For paper documents we set up a flow you can share digitally. The aim is for documents accumulating during the month to be recorded as they arise, rather than in bulk at month end.

Do I have to approve a tax return without seeing it?

No. Tax returns are sent to you before they are accrued; you approve them after seeing the amounts and their basis and asking any questions.

How do you keep track of legislative changes?

We follow the regulations that affect your line of business and inform you of any change that concerns you before it takes effect. That way you are not left preparing for compliance at the last minute.

Company Formation and Trade Registry Services

Should I set up an LLC or a joint stock company?

This cannot be answered on its own. Your number of shareholders, the likelihood of raising outside investment, your share transfer plans and the permits your sector requires are all assessed together. In the meeting we go through these points and explain which suits you, with reasons.

Which documents are needed for formation?

The core documents are the shareholders’ identity details, address declarations, the lease or title deed for the premises to be used as the registered office, and signature declarations. Where there is a foreign shareholder, passports and apostilled documents are added. We draw up the list specific to your formation type.

Can I set up a company with foreign shareholders?

Yes. Foreign individuals or legal entities may set up a company in Türkiye. The process involves additional steps such as obtaining a potential tax identification number and having documents from abroad apostilled and officially translated.

What do I need to do after the company is set up?

After registration come ledger certification, tax office and SGK registration, e-invoice and e-archive applications, and obtaining the financial seal. We handle these as a continuation of the formation; all that is asked of you are signatures and approvals.

Technopark Advisory Services

What is required to enter a technopark?

You need a project with technological content and an application file describing it. The file covers the project’s purpose, method, team structure and business plan, and is submitted for the zone management’s assessment. We accompany you in preparing and presenting the file.

Is the exemption applied automatically?

No. The exemption applies to earnings arising from activities within the approved project and carried out inside the zone. That distinction must be visible in the accounting records and in project-based cost tracking; without this separation, the basis for the exemption cannot be demonstrated.

What about staff working outside the zone?

The salary exemption depends on the staff member’s actual working time within the zone. Time spent outside the zone must be monitored and documented; making this tracking part of the payroll process is the soundest approach.

What should I do if the project period ends?

Project end dates and extensions must be followed with the zone management. Earnings from an activity falling outside the approved project scope cannot benefit from the exemption, so we review periods and scope regularly.

Payroll and SGK Incentive Services

From how many employees is a payroll service worthwhile?

There is no lower limit on employee numbers. In a business with a single employee the notification obligations and deadlines are the same — and so are the administrative penalties for mistakes. As scale grows, the benefit of outsourcing the process becomes more visible.

Why can’t I benefit from incentives?

The most common reasons are that preconditions were not checked before hiring, that there is outstanding premium or tax debt, and that notifications were not filed on time. We review your current staff list to identify which incentives could apply and where the obstacle lies.

Can incentives be claimed retrospectively?

In some cases retrospective benefit is possible, but this depends on time limits and the conditions of the specific regulation. It is therefore safer to make incentive management part of the monthly routine rather than leaving it to year end.

Do you keep the personnel files?

The originals of the personnel file remain with the employer. We track which documents the file must contain, which are missing and which need updating, and manage the digital copies in an orderly way.

Cooperative Advisory Services

Is setting up a cooperative different from setting up a company?

Yes. Cooperatives are governed by Cooperatives Law No. 1163 and differ from capital companies in their membership structure, decision-making mechanisms and income distribution. Drafting the articles of association to fit the purpose is the most decisive step of the formation.

What is a rebate (risturn)?

A rebate is the return to members of the year-end surplus of income over expenditure, in proportion to the transactions they carried out with the cooperative. It rests on a different logic from dividend distribution and has both tax and legal consequences, so calculating it and putting it to a resolution requires care.

What should we watch out for at the general assembly?

The main control points are the form of the notice, timely publication of the agenda, decision quorums and coordination with the Ministry representative. Procedural breaches can lead to the validity of resolutions being contested.

What is the liability of a board member?

Board members bear legal and criminal liability when managing assets entrusted to them by the members. Keeping records in order, taking decisions in accordance with procedure and ensuring financial statements reflect reality are the fundamental requirements of that responsibility.
